CHIPS has outgrown its one room at 321 University Ave in Los Altos. No address or date is set yet — here's what we want to build and how you'll hear first.

Has CHIPS announced a new location?

No. There is no announced address, no lease and no opening date. CHIPS is looking for a bigger space, and the plan is to publish the address, the date and the schedule together in one message once anything is actually signed. Classes today still run at 321 University Ave in Los Altos.

Is CHIPS leaving 321 University Ave?

That is not decided. The Tuesday classes run there right now. Whether a bigger space would replace 321 University Ave or sit alongside it has not been worked out yet.

Why does CHIPS need a bigger space?

Every CHIPS class is capped at eight students, in Los Altos and in Foster City. That cap is what makes the teaching work — each student gets their own kit and their own bench — so it is not going up. One room at that cap means several groups cannot meet: the Monday girls' CIRCUIT cohort, LIGHTUP for grades 6-8, and the adult ESP32 evening group are all waitlist-only.

How will families hear about the new space first?

Two ways. A CHIPS account at /Portal is the list Shahaf writes to when something changes — there is no password, you enter the email address CHIPS already has for you and a sign-in link arrives. You can also follow the CHIPS Kickstarter campaign, which has not launched yet, to be notified on day one.

What CHIPS classes are running right now?

Two Tuesday cohorts at 321 University Ave in Los Altos: CIRCUIT for grades 2-5 at 4:00-5:00 PM, which is close to full, and ArduinoStudio for grades 6-8 at 5:00-6:30 PM, which has seats. Both are capped at eight students.
